Here's a sketch I did of my brother while he was correcting his student's papers when I was over their house last month. He's an English teacher in a High School.

This was a sketch I did in the Park while waiting for customers. The dog was only in this pose for a few seconds, so I had to do most of it from memory. At least the background stayed still for me afterwards.

Stickies

Here are some quick sketches done on stickies while I was working for the GAP. I had very little spare time, so I only did these while waiting for the scanner to warm up or waiting for a large file to load, etc. I wasn't crazy about the backgound color of the stickies, so I altered them slightly in photoshop, but left the original color in the faces.

Originally I saw an older man on the subway with an interesting make up of facial features. I didn't have time to draw him, but did this one out of my head with him in mind.

This is a quick sketch I did of my friend, Scott from last night's performance at Supreme Trading. It was a little hard to see with one back-lit red light, but I think it looks like him and he liked it. He was bending some crazy notes and the band sounded great.

Bowie

Here's a David Bowie sketch I did years ago for a commission I did of Bowie and Mick Jagger together. My client ended up picking another sketch, but I still like the way this one came out. It's important for me to try to get the psychology of the subject into the caricatured portrait, and when they are a celebrity, to also show a glimpse of their persona or how they are perceived to the general public.

Here's a couple of sketches I did while waiting for customers in the Park today. The first is from someone I saw quickly passing by and the second is outta me head. They're both done with a Col-Erase pencil which is very smooth. I saw Seo using it in Reno at the NCN, and then read about it in Alberto's blog. If you draw, you have to try it- it's like butter.

Here's a few more from the ole sketchbook; the first is made up and obviously a double page spread, the second and third pages are from people I see passing my stand in the Park, and who I usually have to draw from memory, and the last page is a fellow artist who usually doesn't say much to me due to our language barrier. I usually say "ni how" and "tsai chien" to him anyway.

Another woman with a sword

When I first started sketching this one, I had Yuko Shimizu's illustration of a woman with a sword in mind, although I hadn't looked at it in a while. Anyway, I feel like I'm still working on it...I might do some photoshopping on it if I get the time...
The colors are not 100% accurate as usual.

To be fair, this woman didn't ask this question; she was just somebody I saw passing my stand yesterday, but someone else in the past has asked this question.
I'm also always amazed how people ask me the same exact questions every day for the past 11 years, and how people always reffer to me as "they" when they're talking about my work.

Who are these people? I have no idea.

This is the first page of one of my sketchbooks which I'll be updating as I get the time. My connection on my computer has been iffy lately, so we'll see how long it takes. I have the sketch book more that half-way done, and other sketches I've never posted. Most of these are just whatever comes to mind, ideas, or drawings from observation and maybe some caricatures.
